Coach : The History
The year was 1941. In a New York city loft, the founder of the Coach family business was inspired by a quintessential American icon – the baseball glove – to create a legacy of his own. To his eye, its distinctive markings and deep, glowing burnish held potential beyond its origins.
After refining the leather by making it softer, yet maintaining its strength, durability and character, the first Coach bag was created. Six artisans handcrafted the first Coach collection, consisting of only twelve bags, using skills and techniques that had been passed down from one generation to the next. Each bag was perfectly proportioned with a timeless elegance and enduring appeal – A classic was born.
Every Coach product embodies the perfect balance between design and function. Artisan-quality craftsmanship is lavished on every detail.
